SpeedCommander - файловый менеджер с многочисленными, в том числе и уникальными, способностями по работе с файлами. Из не совсем обыденных функций стоит обратить внимание на сильную систему шифрования файлов (файлы сжимаются - внутренняя поддержка ARJ, ZIP, LHA, RAR, CAB, ACE, GZIP, TAR и UUE, потом шифруются по стойкому методу DES, а потом еще и их наименования можно защитить паролем). Кроме данной нам довольно изредка встечаемой опции, в SpeedCommander имеется встроенная поддержка просмотра около восьми десятков графических и текстовых форматов; есть полнофункциональный текстовый редактор с подсветкой синтаксиса и не наименее полнофункциональный ftp-клиент.

It reads and creates ZIP archives, Microsoft CAB files and fully supports 13 additional compression formats. It means you can unpack and create the 13 most common archive formats. A modern AddIn interface enables the integration of extensions, providing additional functionality. The WinCeFS AddIn allows you to access PDA devices via ActiveSync. The WfxWrapper AddIn can integrate file system plug-ins written for Total Commander (wfx).
The internal file viewer displays over 80 graphics and text formats. In addition, SpeedCommander contains a powerful text editor with numerous extras including syntax highlighting. With the integrated FTP client, you can both download files from the net and upload your own web pages. SpeedCommander even integrates a web browser for you to surf the web! SpeedCommander supports various FTP types like FTP via SSH (SFTP) and SSL encrypted FTP. The user just needs to choose a protocol, everything else is done by Speedcommander in a transparent way. The support for proxies was expanded noticeably. SpeedCommander supports Socks 4/4a/5 and HTTP connections. The user can choose to compress directory listing and file transfers with MODE Z. Band width limiting keeps your line responsive, if required. SpeedCommander is also available in a native 64-bit version for Windows XP x64.
